Review: ‘Hollowed Out’

Nesting for Nature

Hollowed Out’ – Simon Cherriman

This book is a great resource if you want to create your own tried and tested animal nesting boxes for south western Australia. Simon Cherriman runs the Re-Cyc-Ology Project which aims to create and monitor wildlife homes locally. In this book he generously shares his nest box designs focusing on what makes them successful and including how to safely attach them at what heights.

Cherriman also clearly explains the need for these replacement tree hollows and how we can help restore and protect habitat. The book is beautifully illustrated with full colour photographs of WA’s beautiful tree nesting wildlife, with photos of adults, young, eggs and nests for many of our iconic species.
